 Background information:

As the maths subject leader for 4 years at my previous school, a large 4-form entry primary school in East London, I led our school in consistently achieving significantly above the national average for both attainment and progress in maths.  I have over 3 years of experience working as a Specialist Leader of Education for primary maths, closely working with the London North East Maths Hub.  Having joined Byron Court Primary School, I’m now working with the London Central and West Maths Hub focusing on developing material exemplifying greater depth in primary mathematics. Specialist areas and projects include:

  • Leading the Bar Modelling and KS2 Reasoning workgroups for the LNE Maths Hub
  • Planning and organising the East London Maths Bee
  • Implementing Singapore Maths based series Maths – No Problem! across years 1-6 over a 3-year period
  • Collaborating with the UCL Institute of Education to embed Lesson Study as an approach to professional development across a number of schools
  • Delivering workshops at national conferences organised by the White Rose Maths Hub and the 6 London Maths Hubs
  • Awarded Primary Maths Coordinator of the Year at the LNE Maths Hub’s 2016/17 Maths Teacher of the Year Awards
  • NCETM Professional Development Accredited Lead

 

How I can support:

  • Delivering bespoke INSET training on all aspects of primary maths
  • Supporting with the development of action plans and curriculum development
  • Training and guidance on implementing Lesson Study
  • Training and guidance on whole school implementation of Singapore Maths and a ‘mastery approach’

 Background information:

As part of my role as Maths leader at my current school, I have 2 years experience in which I have led a range of personal development meetings including the use of resources and an introduction to Shanghai Practices and improving parental engagement in Maths. I have always worked directly with all teaching staff to develop their teaching style through team teaching, open door policy on drop ins while I am teaching, observations and collaborative planning have raised the standard of Maths across the school. I am currently conducting a research project with the year group leaders across the school to increase parental engagement in Maths with the intention to raise the attainment for children who are at risk of not meeting the expected standard while widening` the subject knowledge of our year group leaders to deliver these sessions.
